Return to Play Safely Protocol
We know that life looks a bit different than it did before the COVID-19 pandemic and there is a natural cautiousness when returning to normal activities. You may have questions about Buddy Baseball’s safety protocols, especially when it involves your child.
We want to assure you that getting back to the fun will not come at the expense of safety. In our league, we have undertaken a rigorous “Return to Play Safely” protocol to ensure the safety of your family and all participants. This season, you will notice a few new things during game day, including the following safety measures:
- Temperature checks and a completed four-question health questionnaire will be required to enter the fields for every game. Anyone with a temperature over 100 degrees will be asked to leave.
- Masks are to be worn at all times. (Except children five years of age and younger)
- If your child is unable to wear a mask for the full duration of the games, they will NOT be allowed to play.
- Staff will be disinfecting the bleachers, dugouts and restrooms before each game.
- Bleachers will have rows and seats blocked off for no seating and social distancing. We encourage spectators to bring their own chairs to socially distance from others.
- The after-game team handshake will be replaced with clapping lines.
- No high fives, handshakes or intentional physical contact. Smiles and cheers encouraged!
- Hand sanitizing stations will be located in the dugouts and around the ball fields.
- No water coolers will be in the dugouts, please bring your own water bottle.
- The traditional Meet and Greet will not take place. There will be a scheduled time for your team to pick up your team shirt and hat at the ball fields, one week before the season starts.
- New Buddy training will be virtual.
Parents should assess the level of risk based on their child’s health who may be at higher risk for severe illness, such as children who may have asthma, diabetes, or other underlying health problems. We advise that you do not register to play if your child has an underlying health condition. If you or anyone in your family has an underlying health condition, we recommend that you do not attend the games. Participants, parents and guests will be required to stay home if they, or anyone they have come in contact with, is sick.
Do not attend OR participate if:
- You are feeling ill. Symptoms of the coronavirus can include fever (temperature of 100.0 as defined by the CDC), cough, difficulty breathing, and other symptoms as outlined by the CDC website.
- If you have been exposed to COVID-19 in the prior 14 days.
- If unsure about whether to attend or participate due to possible symptoms OR exposure, it is recommended you contact your health care provider.
If circumstances change, Buddy Baseball may put into effect additional safety measures as necessary and in compliance with state and local guidelines. Bottom line, we want you to be able to return to play with confidence knowing you will experience the same fun you have come to love and expect from Buddy Baseball.
Until we see you again, let’s all do our part. And when it’s time to take the field, we’ll make sure we do it together… safely.
